Two parent chaperones have been accused of spraying Lysol on students during a Colorado high school prom because teen’s “dirty dancing” looked like “they were advertising butt sex.”

A police report obtained by The Smoking Gun on Tuesday indicates that Jennifer Farmer and Hannah Rockey were charged with “harassment” because they directed obscene language at students attending Manitou Springs High School last month.

According to one of the seven victimized students, the women told female students that they were “advertising butt sex” and called them “sluts and whores.”

“Ms. Farmer and Ms. Rocky [sic] advised that some of the kids were becoming disruptive and were being explicit while dancing,” the police report says. “Ms. Farmer advised that when the kids were being inappropriate she had ways to deter the behavior. She would use Lysol spray, flashlight or another unknown object to shy students way [sic] from certain styles of dancing.”

“They are dancing like they are having sex with their clothes on,” which made the girls look “trashy, dirty and whorish,” the women reportedly told police.

Manitou Springs police department’s Lt. Jim Hopkins told Denver’s 7News that only one student wished to press charges, but all eight teens verified that the incident took place. The students said that Lysol got on their clothes and in their eyes and mouths, forcing some to leave the prom.

Hopkins said his department decided to charge the women with harassment instead of assault.

“None of the children or kids complained about anything like that,” he said. “It just — it got in their throat, they claimed and stuff like this. But there was no physical damage done.”

While Rockey’s insisted to 7News that “there was no Lysol,” the school’s director of athletics told police that “they did admit to spraying the cleaning product.” [source]

A Wisconsin man charged a local restaurant with false advertising after he was told to stop eating during an all-you-can-eat fish fry.

Bill Wisth, of Mequon, says he was getting ready to move on to his thirteenth piece of fish when Chuck’s Place in Thiensville cut him off, claiming they were running out of food for the other patrons.

“Well, we asked for more fish and they refused to give us any more fish,” he told local NBC affiliate TMJ 4.

Indignant, Wisth said he would not pay his bill until satiety had been achieved. The restaurant, which says Wisth’s eating habits have caused problems before, offered to give the 350lb man eight additional pieces if he agreed to pay for his food.

Not content with less than all-he-could-eat, Wisth called the police, and later returned to the scene to protest his mistreatment. “I think that people have to stand up for consumers,” he said.

This time the restaurant called the police on Wisth, and he was given a warning for disorderly conduct after violating protesting guidelines.

Wisth vowed to come back every Sunday to picket “until the restaurant rethinks what happened.” [source]

A Waukegan man took a plea deal that kept him out of prison for an incident in which he took a needle and thread to his son’s buttocks.

Randy Swopes, 52, represented himself in court Friday to accept a plea deal that sentenced him to 24 months of probation and 250 hours of public service for the January 2008 incident, according to Assistant State’s Attorney Danielle Pascucci.

Swopes’ son was 14 at the time of the incident. The teenager has Crohn’s Disease, which is an autoimmune disorder in which the body’s immune system destroys healthy tissue, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Crohn’s Disease affects the gastrointestinal tract and can cause fevers, stomach pain and other problems depending on which part of the gastrointestinal system is affected.

Swopes’ son was suffering from a fistula at the time of the offense. A fistula is an abnormal connection between an organ and another structure.

The teenage boy had a fistula in his butt and his father opted to sew it shut himself rather than take his son to the hospital, Pascucci said. The 14-year-old wound up in the hospital for almost a month because the wound became infected, she said.

Swopes was charged with aggravated battery and could have spent two to five years in prison for this offense. He took an Alford plea, which admits that there is enough evidence to convict but is not a direct admission of guilt, Pascucci said. [source]

I was watching my local news this morning and apparently this foolishness is popular among teens here in Ohio. So I googled the choking game and found this article.

The choking game has been around for decades, billed as a “safe” way to get a rush or a high from passing out. According to a new study, about 6 percent of adolescents have played it at least once. But doctors believe kids who play it may have little idea how deadly it is.

In the choking game, a person cuts off oxygen and blood flow to the brain with a towel, belt or rope, or hyperventilates until they pass out. When the blood and oxygen rush back to the brain, it creates a euphoric high.

Also called knock out, space monkey or the pass out game, the choking game can lead to brain damage, seizures and head trauma. And for some, like Erik Robinson, the game is fatal.

Erik, a 12-year-old boy from Santa Monica, Calif., loved school, baseball and being part of his Boy Scout troop. His mother, Judy Rogg, said he had lots of friends at his new middle school, one of whom taught him the choking game on the playground one afternoon in April 2010.

The day after Erik learned the game on the playground, he tried it on his own at home after school using his rope from Boy Scouts. Rogg came home and discovered him dead in their living room.

“I figure I missed him by about 10 minutes,” she said.

Rogg said she had never heard of the choking game, and initially didn’t believe the police and the coroner that Erik had been playing it.

“But when my 85-year-old aunt came to Erik’s funeral, she said she used to play it when she was a kid,” Rogg said.

Although the choking game is not new, very little research has been done to investigate how often it happens or which kids are more likely to try it. But the new study published today in the journal Pediatrics gives a snapshot of who is engaging in this risky activity.

Researchers surveyed nearly 5,400 Oregon eighth graders, and 6.1 percent reported playing the choking game at least once in their lives. Among those who had played, 64 percent had played more than once and 27 percent had done it more than five times. Boys and girls were equally likely to have participated.

The researchers found that kids who participated in the game commonly engaged in other risky health behaviors. About 16 percent of boys and 13 percent of girls who reported using alcohol, tobacco or marijuana on the health survey also reported playing the choking game. Girls who reported being sexually active were four times as likely to participate in the choking game as those who had never had sex.

Robert Nystrom, adolescent health manager at the Oregon Public Health Division and one of the study’s authors, said it’s significant that kids who play the choking game are also experimenting with alcohol, drugs and sex.

“Risk-taking is a part of normal adolescent development. The fact that a lot of adolescents are participating in these behaviors shouldn’t surprise us,” Nystrom said. “What we want to do is prevent it.”

Nystrom noted that the choking game is different from autoerotic asphyxiation, where the goal of near-strangulation is sexual gratification. In the choking game, kids simply seek the rush that comes from passing out.

Now most of you know I don’t drink, I’ve never tried weed or any other drug. I don’t understand the need/desire to be high, drunk or whatever. I’m also very judgmental about it so I avoid it as much as possible. Reason #1 why you will probably never see me at an OHN gathering.

I really don’t understand damn near killing yourself just to feel a little “high” for a few short minutes.

I really just can’t wrap my mind around wanting to feel high or tipsy or drunk. I’ve been tipsy before been drunk as fugg before and I felt like the stupidest person in the universe. I mean HORRIBLE! I never liked the taste of likka anyway so it was easy to stop drinking.

So apparently this choking game is a “safe” high meaning they aren’t doing drugs or anything illegal. But they are dang near killing themselves. Yea that makes sense.

So as parents and adults where does the blame lie with us? Kids are basically trying to be like us, they see us (well Y’ALL) being “cool” getting high or drunk and they want to do the same thing.

How do we prevent our kids from doing this type of stupid and dangerous ish?

The parents of Kendrec McDade have reviewed the autopsy report of their 19-year-old son, who was fatally shot in March by Pasadena police, and said they were concerned that he may have been shot from behind.

The autopsy report, released by the L.A. County coroner’s office Friday, shows that the unarmed McDade was shot four times at point-blank range by one officer and was alive and handcuffed after being struck by a total of seven bullets.

At a news conference Saturday, Caree Harper, an attorney for McDade’s family, said the bullets that hit McDade’s arms and one that hit his hip appear to contradict the police’s assertion that none of the shots came from behind him.

A diagram in the autopsy report appears to indicate one bullet entered McDade through the back, but the narrative from the report states that bullet’s trajectory was “front to back and downward.”

“No matter how you want to twist it there were one, two, three and a possible fourth shot” to the back, Harper said.

She also emphasized the downward trajectory of some of the bullets.

“This to us indicates he was either falling or on the ground when he was shot,” Harper said.

Lt. Phlunte Riddle of the Pasadena Police Department said some of the bullets entered through McDade’s arms because of his movements at the time of the shooting.

In a federal lawsuit, McDade’s parents, Anya Slaughter and Kenneth McDade, also allege McDade was left on the street for a prolonged period of time after the March 24 shooting without receiving first aid. The coroner’s report shed no light on this allegation.

McDade, of Azusa, was killed when Pasadena Officers Jeff Newlen and Mathew Griffin responded to a report of an armed robbery at a taco truck in northwest Pasadena. One of the officers pursued McDade on foot and the other from his police cruiser.

The first officer who fired did so while seated in the patrol car as McDade approached with his hand at his waistband. McDade and the officer were “within a foot” of each other, according to the autopsy report.

After he was shot, authorities determined that McDade was unarmed and that the theft victim, Oscar Carrillo, had lied about his assailants having weapons to get a quicker response from police.

The officer who was seated in the patrol car fired four rounds through an open window, according to the autopsy report. The other officer, who was on foot, fired four rounds, believing his partner was involved in a gunfight. The department isn’t releasing information about which officer was in the cruiser and which one was on foot.

A doctor at Huntington Memorial Hospital ruled that McDade died of bullet wounds to the abdomen. The autopsy report found that three shots struck McDade in the abdomen or hip, one struck his right leg, two hit his right arm and one his left arm.

The report also showed McDade had alcohol and traces of marijuana in his system at the time he died.

Police have said they believe McDade was the lookout for another teen involved in the theft, though Harper disputes that assertion.

McDade’s mother asked anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.

“I want Kendrec’s name to be cleared of any wrongdoing,” she said, “and I want the cops to be held accountable for my son’s death.”
