Some Target employees are hoping the giant retailer will rethink its plan to open stores at midnight on Black Friday. They claim the early opening will take many workers away from their families for a big part of Thanksgiving.

Target wants to open up earlier than ever — at 12:01 a.m. that night.

CBS News national correspondent Jim Axelrod reports Target employee Seth Coleman would have to report to work at 11 p.m. on Thanksgiving – too early for him.

Coleman told CBS News, “All Americans should be able to break bread with loved ones and get a good night’s rest on Thanksgiving.”

Coleman decided to fight back — delivering bagfuls of petitions with 190,000 signatures to Target’s headquarters in Minneapolis, Minn., Monday — a campaign started by another Target worker in Omaha, Neb.

Anthony Hardwick, a petition drive organizer, said, “It’s grown exponentially. … It’s just absolutely exploded.”

Target’s human resources director says workers should understand it’s a matter of staying competitive. Anahita Cameron said, “Our guests have expressed that they would prefer to kick off their holiday shopping experience right after the holiday celebrations, rather than getting up in the middle of the night.”

Other retailers are backing up their hours too – including Walmart (10 p.m. Thursday), Toys ‘R Us (9 p.m. Thursday), Macy’s (12 a.m. Friday) and Best Buy (12 a.m. Friday)

Catherine Moellering, executive vice president of the TOBE Report, a retail forecasting company, said, “Retailers are willing to open, especially in a hyper-competitive season where having an extra day or extra part of a day could be that competitive advantage that gives the retailers the upper hand.”

Coleman said, “There are certain days in this country when we get to be with our families and give thanks. If I’m at work, almost the entire day, I have nothing to give thanks for or at least no one to give thanks with.”

Hundreds of Target customers are now writing to register their opinions against “Black Thursday” on the company’s Facebook page, urging the company to “save Thanksgiving.”

So, Target may have to reassess what makes the most business sense.

By far, the scariest Halloween Horror Movie I have ever seen.

The bizarre incident began Thursday afternoon when the victim, having just finished work, tripped and fell to the ground, scraping her left knee in the process. While on the ground, three men drove up in a golf cart to see if she needed assistance (the men were working at an adjacent construction site).

After one of the workers helped the woman to her feet, she continued walking to her vehicle. The victim told police that “two of the subjects drove back towards the construction site, but a third one did not,” according to a Chandler Police Department report.

That man, identified by cops at Martin Soto, approached the woman as she sat in her car with the driver’s side door open. Soto, 43, “asked to see her knee and if she needed medical help.” The woman, whose name cops redacted from police reports, said that, “not thinking about it,” she “rolled up her jeans exposing the scrape on her knee.”

As soon as she did this, Soto “bent over and licked her scrape.” The woman, describing herself as “freaked out,” quickly pushed her pant leg down. As she was doing this, Soto, who was wearing a reflective vest, allegedly began to hug her (one of his hands was under the woman’s shirt). He also “licked the left side of her face several times” before the woman pushed him away and shut her car door.

Being that this is the most irrational shyt I’ve heard today, I’m just going to ASSume that this man is mentally challenged.

The city of Detroit is determining whether a mobile strip club called the Booty Lounge can legally park and operate downtown during Detroit Lions games.

Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee Jr. this morning said the department will investigate any potential illegal activity related to the bus and “make sure we take the appropriate enforcement action.”

Local news reports have indicated a photo surfaced of two police officers standing with a woman from the bus.

Godbee said that does concern him, but he didn’t want to “pass judgment” on the photo until a complete investigation was conducted.

“Frankly, in large events, people in general, they like to take pictures with police officers,” he said. “To pass judgment on the photo without having an opportunity to really do an investigation, I don’t think would be fair at this point.”

 

Detroit Mayor Dave Bing also weighed in on the controversial bus situation this morning, saying he is also concerned.

“Yes it is a concern because, you know, the games are basically for families and to have something like this going on, it is not appropriate,” he said.

Detroit Police spokeswoman Eren Stephens said today that in addition to parking in Eastern Market during Lions’ games, the bus is posting on its Facebook page that it travels elsewhere in southeast Michigan.

“We’re looking at the whole operation, not just that they’re going to every game,” Stephens said.

Pictures on the Booty Lounge Facebook page show scantily clad women hanging off a stripper pole inside a red school bus-type vehicle.

Stephens said the investigation alleges that the operators of the bus are “accepting donations of $10″ for guests to board while it is parked.

Detroit police are attending and also investigating the Booty Lounge, a mobile strip club that occupies a spot in a parking lot near Ford Field during Lions home games. The venue is a school bus that has been painted over in black and red paint, with the words “BOOTY LOUNGE” in silver letters on its side. Finally, right? A space for women at NFL games!

It’s unclear exactly what goes on in the Booty Lounge,  but it is reportedly equipped with ”two stages with steel dance poles, a smoke machine, laser lights and a sound system,” so that should give you some idea. After Detroit’s WDIV-TV broadcast the story last week, and after photos of Detroit police officers posing with some of the bus’s ladies surfaced from Facebook (the one we found, at right above, was posted in November 2010), chief of police Ralph Godbee Jr. announced an investigation:

“Ostensibly, it’s an illegal establishment,” Godbee said. “The same thing that would regulate that type of activity in a strip club would be applicable to that vehicle. We’re going to police it very aggressively through our investigation.

“I’m appalled at this kind of conduct because we have families and children around. We need to make sure these events are fan-friendly for children and their families.” ( muf***a.. it’s Detroit. If you were concerned about a safe friendly family atmosphere… it wouldn’t bbeeeeeee in Detroit. Nawl im just serious.)

Godbee began the probe after receiving complaints from a city councilman following an undercover report on a local TV station. Godbee said his officers “jumped right on” the issue, adding this was the first time he heard about the bus.

The Booty Lounge Detroit Facebook page, which has plenty of photos for those interested, describes the bus as “an amazing, one of a kind trailblazer in the transportation industry.” They rent out the space at a minimum of four hours, and while it is available without “the ladys,” their “oppinion is that is alot more fun with em!” A Detroit police spokesperson told CBS that the bus operators were allegedly “accepting donations of $10″ for anyone who boarded at Ford Field.
