It’s not always because they’re lazy or eat everything in sight. The point is that you can’t make a judgement on someone unless you know their head and their heart. So, if it’s not your thing, it’s not your thing. As long as you aren’t trying to make someone feel inferior for what you perceive to be their short comings then you’re alright.

As much as Raven annoys me, I have to give her credit for this one(not the grammar/spelling errors, though). Some people are going to be a certain size no matter how healthy they eat.
If you’ve got some extra weight but can still rock the sexy curves/clothes? That’s what I call thick. If you have some extra weight but look like a roman column and can’t see your toes(and not because of the boobs)? Not thick.
I know my ass is a bit lazy, but I can’t drop more than 20 without looking REAL sick. And that leaves me at a 12/14. So I ain’t NEVAH gon’ be skinny. Actually slick - if you’re a size 6, you’re generally considered a bit too thick to be a model. Models are supposed to be long and skinny, so the clothes hang off of them like on a hangar. They are not supposed to have a lot of curves, because then people would be looking at the woman and not the clothes. Models are not supposed to represent a beautiful woman, they are supposed to represent women that make designers’ clothes look beautiful. Models are not supposed to represent what a healthy woman should look like - the average woman is a size 12 - they represent the abnormal, in fact. And a large number of models have to work unnaturally (and sometimes unhealthily) hard to get that unnatural look.
So I personally will never understand men who PREFER the model size look (which I believe is generally a size 4 or smaller). If you like it, there’s nothing wrong with that, but to basically say that the mass majority of women are unattractive because they are not shaped like boys with tits (fake tits a lot of the times because being that skinny usually doesn’t come with breasts), just don’t make sense to me.
But to each their own, eh?

With all of that said though, I don’t think you should just look any old way, either. If your flesh hangs over your joints, or your waist measures greater than your hips, you are NOT in a healthy shape, no matter how much you weight or what size you wear or whether you are male or female.
I’ll be glad when we as a society get over this dress-size thing and when folks throw out that outdated BMI crap, too. According to it, when I was a size six and my measurements were 36-26-36 I was considered overweight based on that dang thing. Whatever.

Slaus - I know how your mind works babe, and I see where you are going. Now, I don’t know if this is the case for any of the folks who have commented on this post (it certainly isn’t the case for me), but in general, the underdogs of society have every right to be tired of hearing negativity being thrown their way. Black women in general have it especially hard: they were told their hair was too short or too nappy, their skin is too dark, or their body is too curvy/thick, their lips too big and noses too wide, to be considered “traditionally” beautiful. Why WOULD they want to hear yet another person say that they prefer women who look like models - who generally tend to represent everything black women don’t look it (just generally speaking).

Personally I think it comes around that it is never ok to bash the underdog, but we believe we have full authority to tear into the “established” set.
Black and latino women are constantly told they are too fat in comparison to their peers of other races, and when it is suggested to many of the medical boards that there should be a seperate bmi criterium for Blacks and latino’s it is met with torian trength side eyes and ridicule.
but then you add another level onto the equation and you have the fact that women (especially Black women) of darker complexions are also belittled and demeaned both psychologically and directly in comparison to their lighter skinned peers of other races as well.. as in it’s own. Sadly to say much of this is self inflicted.
So when you have a subset of people who are constantly told they are too black, and too big, i think we end up creating this defense mechanism. Where we decide that in fact the opposite of “our” norm is unattractive.
Why was it so horrible last year that there was a Light skinned libra party? Because for so long and to this DAY lighter skinned women are deemed more beautiful then their dark skinned kin.
Why is it so wrong for one to say that they dont find thicker women attractive? maybe because that even at their fittest, black and latino women are 9 times out of 10 larger than other women, and considered fat even though they are actually fit… ie Serena and Tyra banks.
I dont have an answer to all of this… I just find it fascinating
